Here is a humorous Primitive sign. Designed cut and painted in my studio. Sign has been painted antique white with lots of distressing for an old look. Has been treated with a sealer to protect the paint.
This auction is for a baked enamel/porcelain, metal, painted number sign from R-4 class subway car #577. This item came from the R 1-9 cars of the IND subway, which were built in many waves by a few different builders (American Car & Foundry, Pullman, and Pressed Steel – between 1930 and 1940. There were over 1800 built. The last of them were retired and scrapped in the 1970s. A few still exist as part of museum collections, including the New York City Transit Museum and the Shore Line Trolley Museum in East Haven, CT.Car #577 was built between 1932 – 1933 by the The American Car & Foundry Company (ACF).Please see photos for condition.This item is 16.5 inches wide and 10 inches tall.If you are unhappy with an item for any reason, please allow us to make it right – we strive to be a 5-star seller!Item shipped via USPS Priority Mail within the United States.
